The "HIGHLIGHTS" of a tour of the 2 most beautiful castles in the Paris region with France Tourisme
VISIT TO FONTAINEBLEAU CASTLE
The Fontainebleau Castle is located about sixty kilometers southeast of Paris. A prominent site in the history of France, the Fontainebleau Castle has been one of the residences of the French sovereigns from François I (who made it his favorite residence) to Napoleon III. Several kings have left their mark on the construction and history of the castle, which is thus a witness to the different phases of French history since the Middle Ages. Surrounded by a vast park and adjacent to the Fontainebleau Forest, the castle consists of elements of medieval, Renaissance, and classical styles. It reflects the encounter between Italian art and the French tradition expressed in both its architecture and interior decorations. Since 1981, the castle and its park have been listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The Fontainebleau Castle is particularly appreciated today for the beauty of the apartments of Napoleon III, which have been recently renovated.
The guided tour of the castle (individual audio guides available in English, French, Spanish, Italian) will allow you to appreciate the richness of the site with its architecture, sumptuous decorations, and period furniture. You will have some free time to stroll through the gardens.

VISIT TO VAUX LE VICOMTE CASTLE
Vaux le Vicomte of Nicolas Fouquet, superintendent of finances under Louis XIV, is one of the masterpieces of modernity and elegance from the French Grand Century.
Dazzled by such splendor, the young Sun King imprisoned his minister for life and drew inspiration from Vaux le Vicomte to build Versailles. André Le Nôtre and Louis Le Vau achieved perfect harmony between architecture and landscape at Vaux, creating the first classic garden that inspired many throughout Europe. The castle has large gardens, lakes, fountains, and meadows. You will have free time to wander at your leisure and enjoy them.
And if you bring the little ones with you, you can rent 17th-century costumes for them to dress up during the visit.
You will be able to enter the castle and enjoy the visit with an audioguide (available in French, English, German, and Chinese). You will appreciate the artwork in the castle, but you will also have the feeling of being part of their history as you walk through their halls and rooms.
