A unique offer !
Discover the house and gardens of Monet in Giverny during a full day. Our offer includes the visit of Monet's house, the last home of Van Gogh in Auvers-sur-Oise and a lunch in option.

TOUR OF GIVERNY AND MONET'S HOUSE

Located at 80km of Paris, Giverny is a very charming village. Claude Monet decided to move in this place in order to develop his passions such as painting, gardening and photography. In 1966, the gardens and Monet's House were passed by his son Michel to the Academy of Arts.

During the tour, you could see the Monet's House restored as before, the workshop's painter and stroll through the wonderful garden.

Inside the Monet's house where he lived from 1883 to 1926, you could visit :

  • on the ground floor : the 'blue lounge' (room for reading), the groceries, the workshop, the dining room with the famous collection of Japanese drawings on the wall, and the kitchen well decorated.
  • on the first floor : the private apartments with the Monet's bedroom (specific period furniture), the Alice's bedroom and the toilets. In front of the house, you will be charmed by the famous Monet's gardens which are majestic and represent one of the master piece of the painter.

You could visit the house and gardens as you like and our guide will give you all information to enjoy your free time. The Monet's house is opened from April to end of October.

THE MUSEUM OF IMPRESSONISMS (Optional)

In 2009, a partnership between the Terra Foundation for American Art, the general council of Eure in the Seine Maritime department, the district planning authority in Vernon and the Orsay Museum, enabled the birth of the museum of the impressionisms in Giverny; this one replaced the American Art Museum in Giverny. This new museum is about the history of the impressionism and is about all the consequences that happened in the middle of the twentieth century.

The museum is dedicated to the impressionism and explores the whole artistic movement. More than a museum consecrated to the most famous artists, the museum is also about the upstream art (the precursors) and the downstream art (from the Second World War to the contemporary art) The word "impressionism" is in the plural : that is just to mention this plurality.

LUNCH AT THE NYMPHEAS RESTAURANT (Optional)

Located just outside Claude Monet's house in a former farm from the same period, this restaurant will seduce you thanks to its numerous assets. Whether you are sitting on the flowery terrace, in the great room overlooked by the counter or in the patio with a view on the former courtyard of the farm, you will be able to try out specialties from Claude Monet's recipes.

France Tourisme offers you an exclusive menu for your lunch during your discovery of Giverny. Jol Poupat, Nathalie et Jean-Yves Bernard will be delighted to welcome you in that restaurant located in the heart of Giverny.

The traditional architecture of that place, the quality dishes and the smiley waiters will make your gourmet break an enjoyable moment. Whether you come with your family or as a couple, all will be done to please you. Let yourself be treated by the sweetness of the impressionist Normandy.

"Bon apptit"!

AUVERS SUR OISE CHARMING VILLAGE

The Auvers-sur-Oise village has preserved this precious heritage and you will relive the Impressionist movement birth and fulfillment.

A lot of places enliven a village visit, we find most of the sights that famous painters immortalized. Vincent Van Gogh painted there seventy paintings during the last months of his life.

"CHAMBRE DE VAN GOGH" GUIDED VISIT

We propose you to discover the last Van Gogh house in "l'Auberge Ravoux" at Auvers-sur-Oise, where he lived in a modest attic room, the bedroom n5, lighted by a simple dormer. Where Theo Van Gogh assisted to his brother last moments.
By substitution, the "suicide bedroom", essential room from the sensitive universe of the painter, never be rent again. This haven of peace where "there are nothing to see... but feel everything" stayed intact since 1890. Empty, we find no relic to touch, we can contact with History.
At the same floor, the bedroom n6 was occupied by an other painter, less famous, Anton Hirschig. His simple furnitures, mentioned the artist life conditions at the end of the XIXe century.

This time travel end in the auberge attic with the audio-visual presentation " Walking the way of Van Gogh", that recount the artist stay in Auvers-sur-Oise, through his works, letters and period photographs. With a Dominique-Charles Janssens editing, Institut Van Gogh President, the spectator is invited to discover Auvers-sur-Oise through the eyes and Van Gogh talent.
