:: EXHIBITION "EXPRESSIONISMUS - EXPRESSIONISMI" from 13/10/11 to 11/03/12
Berlin-Munich 1905-1920. Der Blaue Reiter vs Brücke
The title Expressionismus & Expressionismi refers to the major exhibition on Futurism, intitled Futurismo & Futurismi, held in Venice in 1986. This neologism allowed to show the diversity of movements making up the Italian Futurism. The title of the present exhibition also illustrates the diversity of the origins of the German Expressionism. Often viewed as monolithic, this movement is however composed of two diametrically opposite groups.
This exhibition will present, around one hundred and seventy works, these two different but representative movement of the German Expressionnism. Always interested in dialogue between the arts, the Pinacothèque de Paris invites visitors to discover the essential and antagonistic nuances, by confronting the artists and artworks.
:: EXHIBITION "ILONA ET GEORGE KREMER" from 27/10/11 to 25/03/12
The Dutch Golden Age
The Dutch Golden Age refers to a rise of a merchant class to political power. The Netherlands are based during the 17th century on an incredible economic wealth. The country is one of the few places in Europe where war was not waged, without any Inquisition or religious intolerance. It became a refuge for artists, thinkers, writers and philosophers who could find such freedom of expression nowhere else.
The Pinacothèque de Paris shows an outstanding set of fifty seven exceptional works which favour the technic of the chiaroscuro, developped and widely spread during the Dutch Golden Age. The exhibition focuses on genre scenes and social relations between the various trades in 17th century Holland, and also shows, how the bourgeoisie overtook the aristocracy in the world of art lovers and collectors. The exhibition also shows still-life paintings and landscapes which are among the most remarkable and the most representative paintings of this time.
